Some highlights of what’s new on the site this month:
The booklist has been updated. Please do let me know of any publications you know of which are not on the list so they can be added. I’m in the process of trawling through lists of articles to include these.
An ‘In Memory’ section has also been added. This is very new and is constantly being updated with the names and other details of men of all theatres who were involved in the campaign. Please do send across those you’ve come across and also any corrections which need to be made (please include the source of your info so that it can be included).
http://www.eturbonews.com/29871/battlefield-east-africa-98-years-and-counting on battlefields in Tsavo area has been added to the Heritage: tours and info section.
Please find attached the GWEA Conference Registration and GWEA Programme Outline for the Great War in East Africa Conference to be held on 14 July 2012 at The National Archives, Kew, London.
If you have expressed an interest to present a paper, please can you let me (email@example.com) have your completed registration by 10 June 2012, including a short abstract and the title of your paper if I don’t already have this.
Speakers currently include Harry Fecitt, Kevin Patience, Peter Charlton, Daniel Steinbach, Tanya Buehrer and Matthew Pesek with topics covering the war on water and in the air, prisoners, German and Portuguese command and strategy and the war in the south.
There is still some space available for a few papers. Papers/Presentations should be no more than 20minutes long. The purpose of the paper is to set the scene for discussion around a theme or topic. There is also space for displays (posters or powerpoint) if you are unable to attend the day.
If you would like a book, publication or tour related to the campaign promoted, please let me have the details so I can make the necessary arrangements.
Please do get in touch if there’s anything more you’d like to know and pass the info onto others who may be interested.
All the best
