Post Cecil Gorge Bateman (Indian Army)
on: January 8, 2017, 21:00

The daughter of Cecil Gorge Bateman is looking for information on her father who was injured at Latema-Reata in 1916. If anyone has any info, please get in touch.
She has his diaries and other papers and is prepared to let interested members see these.
Thanks
Anne

  1. I have not been able to find an explanation for the story of P. J. Pretorius and his connection to the Konigsberg not being part of the official history of the war. Can anyone enlighten me about this?

My best wishes to you and yours.

    Sam

  2. As an Army Officer I am about to be posted to Kenya for a couple of years. I would be interested in running a battlefield tour of the WW1 sites in the country next year and would welcome suggestions and help from the experts.

  3. I am currently attempting to research the life story of one of the men recorded on our local ww1 memorial. His name us Sidney Evans and I know he served with ‘Bowker’s Horse’, He died 28th November 1918 at Florida Farm and is buried at the cemetery in Nakuru. I have discovered a newspaper article which names Samuel Evans claiming probate in East Africa. I am interested in how he came to be in East Africa and the circumstances of his death, also whether Samel remained there. I wonder if anyone is able to help?
